Move for Momentum at Colets: Get Moving for a Great Cause This September
This September, we’re getting behind Move for Momentum, bringing the Colets community together to move more, have some fun and raise vital funds for Momentum Children’s Charity.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and throughout the month you’ll find plenty of ways to get involved at Colets - whether that’s walking a few extra kilometres, dancing, joining one of our fundraising events or simply making a donation.
Why are we supporting Momentum?
Momentum Children’s Charity supports families across Surrey, London and Sussex whose children are facing cancer or another life-challenging condition, providing practical and emotional support both in hospital and at home.
Around 1,900 children are diagnosed with cancer in the UK every year, and Momentum’s services help families through an incredibly difficult time with family support workers, counselling, creative therapies, experiences, respite breaks and bereavement support. The charity receives no government funding and relies on voluntary support and fundraising to continue its work.
That’s where Move for Momentum comes in.
The idea is simple - choose how you want to move during September and turn that movement into something that can make a real difference to local families.

Take on our 21.5km September Challenge
All month long, Colets members can take part in our 21.5km Move for Momentum Challenge through the Technogym app.
Your challenge is to walk or run a total of 21.5km throughout September. You can complete it all at once, spread it across your weekly workouts or simply build it into your everyday walks.
And there’s an extra reason to reach the finish line - Colets will make a donation to Momentum for every member who completes the challenge.
Every kilometre counts.
Friday 4th September - Kids Camp Moves for Momentum
Our younger Colets community is getting involved too!
Friday 4th September will be our special Move for Momentum Kids Camp day, with plenty of opportunities to get active and have fun along the way.
There is an additional £2 charge for the day, which will be donated directly to Momentum Children’s Charity, helping our youngest movers make a difference too.

Wednesday 16th September - Nursery Gets Moving
Our youngest movers are getting involved too!
To celebrate National Fitness Day, Colets Nursery will be spending the day getting active with a whole host of sports-themed activities, from obstacle courses and football to games and movement activities.
Children are invited to come dressed for the occasion in their favourite sports kit - whether that’s a football shirt, baseball top, ballet outfit or something completely different.
We’ll also be bringing Move for Momentum into the day, helping the children learn that getting active can be fun while supporting a brilliant local cause.
Friday 18th - Saturday 19th September - The 24-Hour Danceathon
This is the big one.
Momentum Children’s Charity CEO Sarah Woods is taking on an incredible 24-hour Danceathon right here at Colets, starting at 10:00 on Friday 18th September and finishing at 10:00 on Saturday 19th September.
Sarah will keep moving for the entire 24 hours, joining a variety of Colets classes along the way including Dance Fit, Barre, Zumba and Konga, alongside guest DJs, friends, family and members of our community.
And we want you to get involved!
If you’re attending one of the classes Sarah joins, give her some extra energy by dancing alongside her.
Sarah has set herself a fundraising target of £1,900 - one pound for every child diagnosed with cancer in the UK each year.

Want to do your own Move for Momentum challenge?
You don’t have to limit yourself to what’s happening at Colets.
Momentum is encouraging everyone to choose a challenge that works for them - whether that’s walking, running, swimming, cycling, dancing, stretching or something completely different.
You can set up your own fundraising page, download a fundraising pack and get friends, family or colleagues involved too. There’s no required distance or activity - the important thing is simply to get moving.
