Pool Rules & Regulations
1. Introduction
Our pool facilities are provided for the enjoyment, health and wellbeing of all members, guests and visitors.
These Rules & Regulations are in place to help ensure a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for everyone using the pool, spa and associated wet facilities.
Failure to comply with these Rules & Regulations may result in access being restricted or withdrawn.
2. General Pool Use
2.1 Admission
All users must check in at Reception before entering the pool area.
Access to the pool may be restricted at certain times due to swimming lessons, club activities, maintenance works, events or operational requirements.
2.2 Staff Instructions
Lifeguards and club staff have full authority within the pool area.
All reasonable instructions given by staff must be followed at all times.
2.3 Pool Capacity
For safety reasons, the Club reserves the right to limit or refuse access when the pool reaches an unsafe operating capacity.
3. Pool Safety
3.1 General Safety
For the safety and enjoyment of all users:
Shower before entering the pool.
Walk at all times around the poolside.
Running, pushing, rough play and dangerous behaviour are not permitted.
Diving is not permitted at any time. The only exception is during supervised swimming lessons or organised club sessions where diving is being taught under the direct instruction of a qualified instructor.
Any accidents, injuries or concerns should be reported to a member of staff immediately.
3.2 Respect for Others
All users are expected to behave in a considerate manner and show respect towards fellow swimmers, guests and staff.
Behaviour that compromises the safety, comfort or enjoyment of others may result in removal from the facility.
4. Children and Supervision
4.1 Responsibility
Parents, guardians and supervising adults remain responsible for the safety and behaviour of children in their care at all times.
4.2 Supervision Ratios

4.3 Super Swimmer Programme
The Colets Super Swimmer Programme allows children aged 10-13 years who have successfully passed the Super Swimmer assessment to use the swimming pool without direct adult supervision, subject to the following conditions:
Children must be 10 years of age or older.
A parent or responsible adult must remain on site within the club at all times while the child is using the pool.
Super Swimmers must check in at Reception before entering the pool.
The Super Swimmer card must be presented to the lifeguard on arrival and collected before leaving. If a card cannot be produced, the child may only swim under the standard supervision rules.
Super Swimmers must follow all instructions given by lifeguards and club staff at all times.
Poor or unsafe behaviour, including but not limited to running, shouting, fighting or ignoring staff instructions, may result in warnings, suspension or permanent withdrawal of Super Swimmer privileges.
Groups of Super Swimmers are limited to a maximum of four children at any one time.
Super Swimmers must not use designated adult lane swimming lanes unless specifically authorised by a lifeguard.
Super Swimmers may only use the pool when a lifeguard is on duty. Swimming without lifeguard supervision is not permitted under any circumstances.
Super Swimmers remain subject to all other Pool Rules & Regulations.
The Club reserves the right to suspend or withdraw Super Swimmer status at any time where these conditions are not met or where, in the opinion of staff, continued participation would compromise safety or the enjoyment of other users.
5. Lane Swimming
5.1 Lane Etiquette
When lane swimming:
Select a lane appropriate to your speed.
Follow lane direction systems where in operation.
Allow faster swimmers to pass where appropriate.
Be considerate of other swimmers sharing the lane.
5.2 Reserved Areas
Certain lanes or areas of the pool may be reserved for lessons, coaching sessions, classes or club activities.
6. Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons take priority in designated areas during scheduled lesson times.
Parents and guardians should ensure children arrive promptly and are collected promptly at the end of their lesson.
7. Spa Pool
7.1 General Use
The spa pool is intended as a quiet relaxation area.
Users must:
Wear appropriate swimwear.
Shower before use.
Respect the comfort and enjoyment of others.
7.2 Restrictions
The following are not permitted:
Food or drink.
Glass containers.
Alcohol.
Excessive noise or disruptive behaviour.
7.3 Age Restrictions
The spa pool is an adult relaxation area.
Users must be aged 16 years or over.
8. Sauna and Steam Facilities
8.1 General Use
Users must:
Shower before entering the sauna or steam room.
Shower after using the sauna or steam room before returning to the swimming pool.
Sit on a towel at all times.
Wear appropriate swimwear.
Follow all displayed safety notices.
8.2 Age Restrictions
The sauna and steam facilities are adult relaxation areas.
Users must be aged 16 years or over.
8.3 Health Considerations
Anyone with a medical condition, heart condition, high blood pressure, pregnancy or any other health concern should seek medical advice before using the sauna or steam facilities.
9. Changing Rooms
9.1 Mobile Devices
The use of mobile phones, photography and video recording is strictly prohibited within changing room areas.
9.2 Respect for Others
Members and guests are expected to respect the privacy and comfort of others using the facilities.
9.3 Family and Lesson Times
Certain changing areas may be designated for children and families during swimming lesson periods and other specified times.
10. Food, Drink and Alcohol
Food cannot be taken into the pool or surrounding areas.
Glass containers are not permitted within poolside or wet areas.
Anyone believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be refused entry or asked to leave the facility.
11. Emergencies
In the event of an emergency or fire alarm:
Follow staff instructions immediately.
Leave the area using the nearest available exit.
Proceed to the designated assembly point.
Do not re-enter the building until advised to do so by staff.
12. Amendments
Colets reserves the right to amend these Rules & Regulations at any time to reflect operational, safety or legal requirements.
