Exercising with a partner can amplify this effect, leaving you feeling even happier and more energised.

Trying new classes or incorporating different workouts keeps things fresh and entertaining, which is key to maintaining long-term consistency.
But it’s not just about showing up, it’s about showing up stronger. Many people find they push themselves harder when training with a friend, especially when they have physical support for tougher sets or training to failure. A workout partner can help with:

Fun Ways to Work Out Together at Colets
Fancy a gym workout?
Try combining the sledtred push in the athletic zone with these quick partner core exercises.
1. Medicine Ball Russian Twist Pass
Sit back-to-back, feet off the ground. Pass a medicine ball around your sides, twisting your torso. Do 20 passes (10 each way).
2. Plank High-Fives
Face each other in a forearm plank (~3 feet apart). Alternate high fiving each hand for 3 sets of 20 (10 each hand).
3. Partner Leg Raises with Hold
One partner does leg raises while the other holds their feet for resistance. Switch after 15 reps. For more burn, the holder can plank.
4. Sit-Up and Pass
Sit facing each other, feet touching. One partner does a sit-up and passes a medicine ball at the top. Alternate for 20 reps each.
Try a Doubles Squash Game
Bring a mate and get on court! Whether you’re seasoned players or total newbies, squash is a great way to move, compete, and laugh your way through an afternoon.
HIIT It Together
Pair up for a partner HIIT workout class in our athletic zone or even outdoors. These workouts are quick and effective.
Shared Serenity: Yoga or Pilates
Join a class together and wind down with some gentle movement and mindfulness. Not only does it improve flexibility and reduce stress, but it’s also a lovely way to reconnect.
Swim & Steam
Sometimes fitness looks a lot like recovery. Go for a gentle swim, then catch up in the steam room or Basil’s. Great for your muscles - and your friendship.
Everything’s Better When Shared
We’re making it easier than ever to share the Colets experience. Members can bring a friend for free every Friday in July - whether it’s to the gym, a class, the pool or just to unwind together.
Bring your guest to Reception to fill out a Guest Registration form. Guests must be 18 or over, and all visits must follow the club’s guidelines.
